CV sales lag

Commercial Vehicle (CV) sales continued to lag in May 2017. The Indian auto industry produced 4,675,407 vehicles, including CVs and three wheelers in the period between April-May 2017, recording a growth of 8.39 per cent, as against the production of 4,313,445 in April-May 2016. In the April-May 2017 period, 94,947 CVs were sold, down (-) 14.40 per cent, as compared to 110,924 CVs sold in the correspond­ing period last fiscal. In May 2017, 53,457 CVs were sold, down (-) 6.36 per cent, as against the sale of 57,089 numbers in the correspond­ing month last fiscal. In April-May 2017, 68,485 three wheelers were sold, down (-) 24.84 per cent, as compared to the sale of 91,124 three wheelers in the correspond­ing period last fiscal. In May 2017, 36,066 three wheelers were sold, down (-) 22.4 per cent, as against the sale of 46,479 numbers in the correspond­ing month last fiscal. In April-May 2017, 27,318 M&HCVs were sold, down (-) 43.63 per cent, as against the sale of 48,466 units in the correspond­ing period last fiscal. In May 2017, 16,716 M&HCVs were sold, down (-) 33 per cent, as against the sale of 24,951 numbers in the correspond­ing period last fiscal. In April-May 2017, 67,629 LCVs were sold, up 8.28 per cent, as compared to the sale of 62,458 units in the correspond­ing period last fiscal. In May 2017, 36,741 LCVs were sold, up 14.32 per cent, as compared to the sale of 32,138 units in the correspond­ing month last fiscal. In April-May 2017, overall automobile exports grew by 19.29 percent. A total of 651,936 automobile­s were exported in the respective period as compared to the export of 546,517 automobile­s in April-May 2016. In AprilMay 2017, 10,697 CVs were exported, down (-) 33.27 per cent, as compared to the export of 16,031 CVs in the correspond­ing period last fiscal. In May 2017, 6,635 CVs were exported, down (-) 27.49 per cent, as compared to the export of 9,150 units in May 2016. In April-May 2017, 5,763 M&HCVs were exported, down (-) 5.56 per cent, against the export of 6,102 numbers in the correspond­ing period last fiscal. In May 2017, 3,523 M&HCVs were exported, up 1.18 per cent, as compared to the export of 3,482 M&HCVs exported in the correspond­ing month last fiscal. In April-May 2017, 4,934 LCVs were exported, down (-) 50.31 per cent, as compared to the export of 9,929 units in the correspond­ing period last fiscal. In May 2017, 3,112 LCVs were exported, down (-) 45.1 per cent, as compared to the export of 5,668 units in May 2016. In April-May 2017, 53,573 three wheelers were exported, up 35.76 pr cent, as compared to the export of 39,461 units during the correspond­ing period last fiscal. In May 2017, 27,150 there wheelers were sold, up 27.31 per cent, as compared to the export of 21,326 units during the same period last fiscal.
