The Indian auto industry produced 6,914,544 automobile­s in the period between April 2017 and June 2017, registerin­g a growth of 7.5 per cent as compared to the production of 6,431,938 vehicles during the correspond­ing period last fiscal. In April-June 2017, 162,077 Commercial Vehicles (CVs) were produced, down (-) 21.17 per cent, as compared to 205,612 CVs produced during the correspond­ing period last fiscal. Sales of CVs in April-June 2017 was 151,837 units, down (-) 9.08 per cent when compared to the sale of 167,006 vehicles in the correspond­ing period last fiscal. A total of 56,890 CVs were sold in June 2017, up 1.44 per cent as compared to the sale of 56,082 CVs in June 2016. Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicles (M&HCVs) recorded a decline of (-) 31.82 per cent in April-June 2017 with the sale of 48,493 units as compared to the sale of 71,122 units during the correspond­ing period last fiscal. In June 2017, 21,175 M&HCVs were sold, down (-) 6.54 per cent when compared to the sale of 22,656 numbers in June 2016. Light Commercial Vehicles (LCVs) recorded a growth of 7.78 percent in April-June 2017 with the sale of 103,344 units as compared to the sale of 95,884 units in April-June 2016. In June 2017, 35,715 LCVs were sold, up 6.85 per cent, when compared to the sale of 33,426 units in June 2016. In AprilJune 2017, 104,976 three wheelers were sold, down (-) 24.75 per cent, when compared to the sale of 139,497 numbers during the correspond­ing period last fiscal. In June 2017, 36,491 three wheelers were sold, down (-) 24.56 per cent, when compared to 48,373 units sold during the correspond­ing year last fiscal.

Exports

In April-June 2017, automobile exports grew by 13.74 per cent. A total of 17,296 CVs were exported in April-June 2017, down (-) 34,02 per cent, when compared to 26,214 CVs in the correspond­ing period last fiscal. In June 2017, 6,599 CVs were exported, down (-) 35.2 per cent, when compared to 10,183 CVs sold in June 2016. In April-June 2017, 8,842 M&HCVs were exported, down (-) 5.94 per cent, when compared to 9,400 units exported in AprilJune 2016. In June, 3,079 M&HCVs were exported, down (-) 6.64 per cent, when compared to 3,298 units exported in June 2016. In April-June 2017, 17,296 LCVs were exported, down (-) 34.02 per cent, when compared to 26,214 LCVs exported in April-June 2016. In April-June 2017, 82,074 three wheelers were exported, up 24.67 per cent, when compared to 65,832 units exported in JuneApril 2016. In June 2017, 28,501 three wheelers were exported, up 8.08 per cent, when compared to 26,371 units exported in June 2016.
