Positive growth continues

The Indian auto industry produced 10,882,706 vehicles in April-July 2018 as against 9,325,907 in April-July 2017, registerin­g a growth of 16.69 per cent over the same period last year. Commercial Vehicles registered a growth of 45.42 per cent in AprilJuly 2018 with the sale of 306,592 units as compared to the sale of 210,832 units in the same period last year. In July 2018, 76,497 CVs were sold, registerin­g a growth of 29.65 per cent as against a sale of 59,001 units in the same period last year. Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicles (M&HCVs) sale increased by 64.73 per cent with the sale of 117,326 units in April-July 2018 when compared to the sale of 71,223 units during the same period last year. In July 2018, 28,299 M&HCVs were sold, up 24.50 per cent, as compared to the sale of 22,730 units in the same month last year. The sale of Light Commercial Vehicles (LCVs) grew by 35.57 per cent in April-July 2018 by clocking 189,266 units as compared to 139,609 units in the same period last year. In July 2018, 48,198 LCVs were sold, registerin­g a growth of 32.88 per cent as compared to 36,271 units sold in the same month last year. Three Wheelers sales increased by 51.82 per cent in April-July 2018 at 222,014 units as compared to the sale of 146,237 units during the correspond­ing period last year.

Exports

In April-July 2018, overall exports grew by 26.56 per cent at 1,592,589 units as compared to 1,258,350 units exported in the correspond­ing period last year. CV exports registered a growth of 38.23 per cent in April-July 2018 at 33,011 units as compared to the export of 23,882 units over the same period last year. In July 2018, 8,618 CVs were exported, registerin­g a growth of 30.85 per cent as compared to 6,586 units in the same month last year. In April-July 2018, 15,491 M&HCVs were exported, up 29.42 per cent, as compared to 11,970 units in the same period last year. In July 2018, 4,292 were exported, up 37.21 per cent, as against 3,128 units in the same month last year. In April-July 2018, 17,520 LCVs were exported, up 47.08 per cent, as compared to 11,912 units exported in the correspond­ing period last year. In July 2018, 4,326 LCVs were exported, up 25.10 per cent, as compared to 3,458 units sold in the same month last year. In April-July 2018, 189,780 three wheelers were exported, registerin­g an increase of 69.20 per cent, as compared to the export of 112,162 units in the same period last year. In July 2018, 45,939 three wheelers were exported, up 52.68 per cent, as compared to 30,088 units exported in the same month last year.
