Es­sel In­frapro­jects Ltd. has launched its elec­tric ve­hi­cle charg­ing and bat­tery swap­ping in­fra­struc­ture ini­tia­tive, which aims to gen­er­ate 50,000 jobs and pro­vide last mile con­nec­tiv­ity to the con­sumer. Cre­at­ing en­abling in­fra­struc­ture in 20 cities, which is ex­pected to will bring down the run­ning cost per km at par with CNG and other al­ter­na­tive fuel., the ini­tia­tive aligns with the gov­ern­ment’s vi­sion of clean mo­bil­ity. With the launch of EVs aug­ment­ing trans­port in­fra­struc­ture and cre­at­ing job op­por­tu­ni­ties, the com­pany will spend Rs.1750 crore in a phase wise man­ner to launch 250 bulk charg­ing sta­tions. It will cre­ate 1000 bat­tery swap­ping lo­ca­tions. There would be one ev­ery two-kilo­me­ters, and will be sup­ported by dig­i­tal app. to en­able driv­ers to lo­cate the nearby swap­ping sta­tion and swap the bat­tery in about three min­utes flat. Also, 25,000 e-rick­shaws will be de­ployed un­der the pro­ject. Planned over the next four to five years, the op­er­a­tions will start from Ghazi­abad ahead of other cities like Luc­know, Kan­pur, Agra, Noida, Meerut, Varanasi, Go­rakh­pur, and Al­la­habad.
