Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) deployed the Olectra eBuzz K7 bus at Sabrimala for the transportation of the pilgrims. A zero emission and noise less electric bus, the K7 is nine-meter long. Proving itself by successfully plying for over one year at a high altitude between Kullu-Manali-Rohtang Pass route in Himachal Pradesh, the air-conditioned bus, manufactured in India by Olectra in a strategic tie-up with BYD Auto Industry Co. Ltd., China, runs on Lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery pack. The pack enables a travel range of up to 250 km on a single charge, based on traffic conditions. Equipped with a regenerative braking system, the bus has its battery charged by a high-power AC charging system. The system enables the battery to fully recharge in two to three hours. The electronically controlled air suspension ensures a comfortable ride. Olectra has completed more than 4,00,000 kms on Indian roads and have reduced CO2 emissions up to 419 tonnes till now which would have required 2,095 trees instead.
