Bharat Heavy Electricals limited (BHEL) is foraying into ebus manufacture, claim industry sources. They mention that BHEL has decided to seek technology support from NIT for the manufacture of ebuses. Keen to roll out the first ebus by mid-next year, sources claim, the company has already started equipping itself with facilities. Said to have signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) for awarding five consultancy projects with a total value of Rs.1.2 crore, BHEL will be provided a complete digital solution for the manufacture of the ebus by NIT with the help of its stateof-the-art Siemens centre. Looking at setting a full-fledged manufacturing facility within the next two years to ensure that it is able to roll out an ebus by midnext year, the company could import some of the vital vehicle components. The designing of the assembly line would be done with out sourced components before a full entry into it, sources mention.
