The fifth edition of Bauma Conexpo India 2018 reflected growth areas in the fast-growing Construction Equipment (CE) industry. Growth in the CE industry is bolstered by consumer demand for new products and services. This was aptly reflected at the CE exhibition, held at HUDA Ground, in Delhi, between December 11 and December 14, 2018. With India expected to become the third largest market for the global construction industry by 2025, the industry, over the next nine years, is expected to witness an estimated average real growth of 6.2 per cent per year. As per industry forecast, growth will especially be led by equipment like bulldozers, backhoe loaders and crawler excavators expected to witness a massive increase in sales over the next five years. Organised in partnership with Indian Construction Equipment Manufacturers Association (iCEMA), the CE exhibition in its fifth edition had 700 exhibitors from 26 countries participate.

With 39,173 participants, the exhibition this year is claimed to have witnessed a 20 per cent higher footfall over its previous edition (2016). It occupied 195,000 square

meters of exhibition space, registering a 30 per cent growth over the last edition. Averred Bhupinder Singh, CEO, bC Expo India, “I am proud and very happy to announce that Bauma Conexpo India 2018 was a great success. We saw growth in all areas. Together with our strong partner iCEMA we have prepared an excellent platform for the industry to present their products to the market.” “The partnership was crucial for our success and allowed us to align even more closely with the Indian construction machinery industry’s needs,” he said. Participating for the first time, iCEMA, expressed Arvind Garg, President, iCEMA and Executive VP, Construction and Mining, L&T, “Bauma Conexpo India is an excellent platform for connecting with our valued customers, especially those in the North. We foresee that the partnership has a great opportunity to mature into a relationship which will create value for both of us and our customers.”

Tied to the quest of boosting quality infrastructure development with active intervention from the Government, the CE exhibition, according to Rtn. Er. A. Puhazhendi, National President, joint organiser, Builders Association of India also witnessed participation of buyer delegations this year in addition to the Indian visitors. Mentioned Puhazhendi, “A must-attend event to stay informed about latest industry trends and new technologies, apart from Indian visitors, this year, the trade fair also welcomed buyer delegations from Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka and other countries.” Attributing growth mainly to the large infrastructure projects, industry experts at the exhibition touched upon disruptive changes that the CE industry is grappling with and fast aligning to. The CEs on show by manufacturers including JCB India, CASE Construction Equipment, Action Construction Equipment, Volvo Penta India and Volvo Construction Equipment India, LiuGong India, L&T Construction & Mining Machinery, Caterpillar India, Schwing Stetter India, Escorts Construction Equipment, Wirtgen, Ajax Fiori Engineering, Doosan Bobcat, Kobelco, Epilogue and Total Infrastructure among others reflected how the manufacturers have aligned to disruptions including upcoming emission norms, digitisation and telematics, besides also looking at incorporating a higher degree of automation going forward. First-time exhibitors who followed suite included Indian manufacturers like Tata Hitachi, Escorts and German company Kaeser Kompressoren among others. The fifth edition of Bauma Conexpo India also featured a ‘Buyer Seller Forum’, setting the stage for visitors to network with potential business partners. The initiative is claimed to have proved a grand success given that it brought together technology providers and buyers in over 3,023 meetings held on the sidelines of the exhibition.
