Emission reduction ahead of the deadline
India is celebrating the achievement of a 25 per cent reduction in emissions over 2005 levels. The original target was 35 per cent by 2030 in line with the commitment at the Nationally Determination Contributions (NDC). Keeping up to the Paris Climate Change (COP21) commitments, India, according to President of International Solar Alliance, R K Singh, the need of the hour is to allow regulatory and policy support to keep the sector afloat. It is to allow the strengthening of supplyside technology and encourage competition. The competitive market is believed to be ideal for bringing in economies of scale.
