Goalposts continue to shift and challenges continue to evolve however it’s the new found ways to tackle these that has made all the difference.

The relatively growing penetration of vaccination in the adult population and the nod for the kids’ vaccination holds the potential to lessen, if not completely mitigate the threat of the imminent waves of Covid19. The 15th Anniversary Issue special of Commercial Vehicle Magazine celebrates the efforts of the industry in ‘Staging A Comeback’. Think of it as a culmination of all the inspiring stories brought to you over the last year to cover every stakeholder and their respective segment contributing to the growth of the industry. The issue takes a fresh take on new product launches hinting at restored OEM confidence, road checks, dealerships, game-changer initiatives, alternative drives and road-safety trends shaping up the commercial vehicle industry both nationally and around the globe.

The industry, it is also evident, is working in unison to mitigate the demand and supply challenges. Goalposts continue to shift and challenges continue to evolve however it’s the new found ways to tackle these that has made all the difference. If the year began on the sour note of the need to survive and revive, the industry continues to do everything in its capacity to get back to the erstwhile thriving ways of business. The revival in demand is a positive however it continues to be challenged by a shortage of semiconductor wafers, the need to reduce waiting periods for select models of select segments, high fuel and gas prices leading to higher operational costs, and key input commodity price hikes forcing price hikes across the board. Here, the efficiencies added over the past 19 months are expected to hold the industry in good stead for the quarters to come. It is expected that the industry will make head ways to regain to an extent of the lost ground in sales. In the first half of 2020 (H1-2021), commercial vehicle sales continue to remain below the 2010-11 levels. The task is cut out and hopefully the worst is behind us.
