BEST invites tenders for 1900 e-buses

Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) is known to have invited tenders for 1900 e-buses in all that it hopes to induct. Plying 386 buses in the initial phase wise implementation, it is working towards building a 100 per cent e-bus fleet by 2027 as an effort to mitigate climate change. Aditya Thackrey, Minister of Environment, Tourism and Protocol lauded BEST for inviting tenders. Citing BEST as an example, the minister, in a tweet, informed of the ministry of the state of Maharashtra helping other cities in the state to expand their respective e-bus fleets with the help of government intervention both from the state and the centre. The state is expected to induct new buses that are expected to ply on road by mid 2023 in a phase wise implementation. A tender for 200 electric double-decker buses is also on the anvil.
