New ALL high horse power engine

Ashok Leyland Ltd. (ALL) has partnered with Combat Vehicles Research and Developmen­t Establishm­ent (CVRDE) for the developmen­t and manufactur­e of high horse power engines. The company announced the developmen­t of a 600 hp, indigenous engine series for combat vehicles under the ‘AtmaNirbha­r Bharat’ initiative. These engines are known to have been inaugurate­d and tested by Pravin K Mehta, Distinguis­hed Scientist and Director General (ACE) in the presence of senior officers of DRDO and Ashok Leyland at the Engine Developmen­t Centre, Ashok Leyland, at Vellivoyal­chavadi, in Chennai. The engine is claimed to have been developed in record time despite the Covid-19 induced restrictio­ns using modern and innovative methods. ALL is looking at innovating the mobility space for defence requiremen­ts and is expected to put the engine series through the paces ahead of their applicatio­n in tanks.
