NITI Aayog e-Sawari India coalition

NITI Aayog has joined hands with Convergence Energy Service Ltd. (CESL) and the World Resources Institute, India (WRI India) to launch ‘e-Sawaari India Electric Bus Coalition’. Launched with support from Transformative Urban Mobility Initiative (TUMI), the coalition will help as a knowledge repository. It is an attempt to impart learnings on the e-bus adoption in India among various stakeholders. It will extend to the central and state governments, city-level government agencies, transit service providers, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), financing institutions and ancillary service providers. While promoting electrification of public transport in bus segment through this initiative, NITI Aayog, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Amitabh Kant highlighted its crucial role in the decarbonisation strategy. According to Om Prakash Agarwal, CEO of WRI India, e-Sawaari will facilitate discussions and help identify innovative solutions for scaling up the e-bus adoption. It will also offer fresh impetus to the e-bus segment by uniting cities, the private sector and financiers who will work jointly to address the teething issues as per Rohan Shailesh Modi, Asia Co-ordinator - TUMI e-Bus mission.
