Advanced Switch Mobility centre in Spain
Switch Mobility Ltd. established a new advanced manufacturing and technology centre at Castilla y León, in Spain. In line with the global strategy, the centre will provide production and R&D hub for the company’s e-buses and light commercial vehicles. Dr Andy Palmer, Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Switch Mobility Ltd., stated in a company release, “Supporting our well-established sites in the UK and India, our Spanish facility will provide us with crucial access to the European market.” With a Euro 100 mn investment earmarked for the next decade, the company expects to create an employment opportunity for 7000 people either directly (2000 talent direct jobs) or indirectly (5000 indirect jobs). The groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled to take place on January 27, 2022. The two state-of-the-art production lines can be expected to rollout the first set of buses in the fourth quarter of 2022 (Q42022). These lines will also cater to the requirements of South America.
