Advanced Switch Mobility centre in Spain


Switch Mobility Ltd. establishe­d a new advanced manufactur­ing and technology centre at Castilla y León, in Spain. In line with the global strategy, the centre will provide production and R&D hub for the company’s e-buses and light commercial vehicles. Dr Andy Palmer, Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Switch Mobility Ltd., stated in a company release, “Supporting our well-establishe­d sites in the UK and India, our Spanish facility will provide us with crucial access to the European market.” With a Euro 100 mn investment earmarked for the next decade, the company expects to create an employment opportunit­y for 7000 people either directly (2000 talent direct jobs) or indirectly (5000 indirect jobs). The groundbrea­king ceremony is scheduled to take place on January 27, 2022. The two state-of-the-art production lines can be expected to rollout the first set of buses in the fourth quarter of 2022 (Q42022). These lines will also cater to the requiremen­ts of South America.
