Dana e-Powershift for HD electric mining vehicles
Dana Incorporated (Dana) has brought in a new Spicer Electrified™ e-Powershift transmission for electrified heavy-duty mining vehicles. The modular, flexible twospeed transmission comes with a Power Take-Off (PTO) functionality aimed at delivering high efficiency and superior performance in a compact package. Jeroen Decleer, Senior Vice President, Off-Highway Drive and Motion Systems for Dana Incorporated said, “The new e-Powershift transmission showcases how we are leveraging our comprehensive portfolio of electrification technologies to provide mining OEMs with complete solutions that can help accelerate their journeys to e-Mobility.” The dual-motor version supports continuous power outputs up to 322 hp (240 kW) with the single-motor configuration delivering 161 hp (120 kW) output. Deemed suitable for small- to medium-sized loaders and trucks used in underground mining, as well as construction wheel loaders, large lift trucks, and terminal tractors, the dualmotor configuration (shown at MINExpo®) is claimed to deliver the optimal tractive effort in every duty cycle without torque interruption. The unit will be subjected to prototype testing for which it will be made available to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) by the end of this year. The transmission will be shown as part of a complete system that includes heavyduty Spicer® axles and Spicer® driveshafts.
