PM Narendra Modi meets senior advisor Suzuki in Tokyo

In his Tokyo visit, PM Narendra Modi met up with Osamu Suzuki, Senior Advisor at Suzuki Motor Corporation. Hailing Mr Suzuki’s association and contribution to India, the PM appreciated the transformational role played by Suzuki Motors in the Indian automotive industry. The application under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for automobile and the auto components sector by Suzuki Motor Gujarat Pvt. Ltd. and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. were also brought up in the discussions. The two also discussed various investment opportunities to strengthen the ties further. This includes setting up infrastructure for electric vehicles, battery packs and recycling centres to attain sustainable growth. Also discussed were strategies to build a local innovation system, including skill development under the Japan-India Institutes of Management (JIM) and Japanese Endowed Courses (JEC).
