Hutchison Ports Thailand claims to be Thailand’s first port operator and one of the first in the world to acquire and test autonomous trucks at its Terminal D facility in Chon Buri’s Laem Chabang Port. Shanghai Westwell Information and Technology Company Ltd., a Chinese company specialising in AI development for commercial and industrial settings, built the Qomolo (Q) trucks (Q-Trucks). These trucks are fitted with advanced AI machine-learning technology and boast of a wireless charging system. It is claimed to do a duty cycle of 24 hours and travel up to 140 kms. According to Hutchison Ports Thailand, the Q-Trucks fleet has been deployed for daily operations over the past 25 months and claimed to have successfully transported more than 150,000 containers.
