ALL partners IIT Madras
Ashok Leyland Ltd. collaborated with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras. Researchers at the National Centre for Combustion Research and Development (NCCRD) will support the commercialisation of its patented combustion technology called the ‘Swirl
Mesh Lean Direct Injection (LDI) system’. This indigenouslydesigned, Micro Gas Turbine technology will be used for developing a series of Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs). After the technology was demonstrated on the lab scale, ALL signed a letter of support to develop this technology for the heavy vehicles segment with NCCRD, IIT Madras. It also handed over its nine-meter passenger electric bus to NCCRD which will be converted as part of the exercise. These vehicles will be called ‘Turbine Electric vehicles’ (TEV).
