Volvo Trucks India of the Volvo Eicher Commercial Vehicles Ltd. (VECV) Group was hailed for its transition to gas-based powertrain­s in India with the commercial trial of the Volvo FM 420 4x2 tractor. Powered by Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), the commercial trial for longhaul applicatio­ns was launched from Nagpur in the presence of senior executives from Delhivery, a Volvo Trucks customer, Gas Authority of India Ltd. (GAIL), BLNG - LNG providers, and Volvo Trucks executives. Speaking on the commercial trial, B Dinakar, EVP and Business Head - of Volvo Trucks - VECV, said, “Our BSVIcompli­ant Volvo FM 420 4x2 tractor-trailer solution is already the industry benchmark for express cargo, clocking over 25,000 kms every month with exceptiona­l uptime.” “We are particular­ly proud to be introducin­g such solutions at a time when the Government of India has defined its vision for modernisin­g logistics in India, as laid out in the recently released National Logistics Policy and Gati Shakti programme,” he expressed.
