Cosmetic products are regulated by Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940, and Drugs and Cosmetics Rules, 1945. Packs of less than 60 ml of liquids and 30 gm of solid and semisolid are exempt from listing net contents of ingredient­s. According to Rule 148 (3) of Drugs and Cosmetics Act, where there is any danger, the name and quantity of the dangerous ingredient has to be mentioned on the label.
