The con­cepts of health and en­ergy have per­haps never been as pop­u­lar as they are now. For brand strate­gists and mar­keters, the ‘health’ tag be­comes their ‘open sesame’ to the con­sumer uni­verse. The emer­gence and ac­cep­tance of malt-based food as ‘health’ food is com­pletely aligned with mar­ket re­al­i­ties, as greater health con­scious­ness, as­pi­ra­tions for bet­ter stan­dards of liv­ing, and higher dis­pos­able in­comes be­come the main driv­ers of con­sump­tion pat­terns. Across in­ter­na­tional mar­kets, it has been seen that the growth of the middle class has driven the up­trend in food in­dus­try in gen­eral and health food and bev­er­ages in par­tic­u­lar.
