How to Incorporate Phytonutrients in the Diet

-

Phytonutrients Supplementation

Many phytonutrient supplements are available in the market. These come in tablets, capsules, powders, or liquids. The advantage of taking any supplement is that one can easily control the amount to be consumed.

The disadvantage is that there are no strict regulations for phytonutrient supplements or any other nutritional supplement in India, and so their authenticity and purity can be a concern. Any food that claims to be organic or claims to have phytonutrients can turn out to be misleading. Besides, supplements cannot be a substitute for all of the good effects of consuming phytonutrient-rich foods. The combination of phytonutrients, vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids, and fibres in food is complex and unique. It is important to note that the interaction of the nutrients found in whole foods could be the reason for the health benefits associated with them. Eating a healthy variety of foods every day, including plenty of phytonutrient-rich plant foods, is the recommended way to stay healthy.
