Ash Insoluble in Dilute Hydrochloric Acid on Dry Basis (% by weight)

Ash insoluble in dilute hydrochloric acid is an indicator of dirt and dust in the food product – so, lower is better. As per FSS Regulations, on dry basis it should not be more than 1.3 per cent by weight. As per FSS Regulations, chilli powder should be free from extraneous colouring matter – that is, free from added colours. In laboratory results, all brands were found free from extraneous colouring matter.
