And on Synbiotics
Synbiotics are defined as the food ingredients or dietary supplements that contain a combination of both probiotics and prebiotics to produce a synergistic effect. Prebiotics are increasingly added to probiotic food preparations (synbiotics) to enhance probiotic survival and growth. At the same time, although synbiotic preparations are increasingly used, the potential benefits to gut health may be limited as only specific combinations may enhance probiotic survival and growth. – Compiled by Richa Pande
