Pro­tein to pro­tein, moong dal is bet­ter than bhu­jia

• En­ergy value was high­est in Bikano (496.57 kcal per 100 grams) and low­est in Haldiram’s (442.6 kcal per 100 grams). • Eat­ing 100 grams of Haldiram’s Moong Dal by a man en­gaged in seden­tary work means 19.1 per cent of his daily re­quire­ment of en­ergy has been met. • Pro­tein was high­est in Masti Oye (26 per cent) and low­est in Tasty Treat (20 per cent). Eat­ing 100 grams of Masti Oye by a man means 43.3 per cent of his daily re­quire­ment of pro­tein has been met. In our study of bhu­jia in the De­cod­ing Food La­bels se­ries pub­lished in Fe­bru­ary 2017, cov­er­ing 7 brands of plain bhu­jia and 6 of aloo bhu­jia, the av­er­age pro­tein amount was found to be 11.7 per cent for plain bhu­jia and 8.3 per cent for aloo bhu­jia. Quite in con­trast, the av­er­age pro­tein in moong dal is 22.4 per cent. So Moong Dal is a bet­ter source of pro­tein in com­par­i­son to plain and aloo bhu­jia.
