3“Woah! Is That Really Nicki Minaj?!”
We got 21-year-old student, Meghna Kallat, to channel rapper Nicki Minaj’s look, as worn to Carolina Herrera’s SpringSummer 2012 runway show.
After over an hour-and-a-half of make-over time (involving fake hair, neon make-up, and bubble gum-hued clothing) and hidden cameras neatly tucked away, we were set to unleash our very own Nicki Minaj on the unsuspecting crowd.
There was no shortage of audible gasps and shocked looks as Meghna decided to just ‘hang’ around stores. It’s a known fact that Nicki Minaj rivals Lady Gaga when it comes to outrageous style and memorable appearances, but we never expected such, well, aghast reactions. One young man was so fascinated, that he walked all the way to his car in the parking lot and came back with a camera to get a picture of ‘Nicki’. “I got a lot more attention than I expected, and I’m not sure if it’s the kind I would like all the time,” confessed Meghna. “The neon pieces worn separately may work, but together? Nope, I won’t be trying this look again... i don’t know how Nicki Minaj does it every day!”
