The Dr. B. R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology Jalandhar (NIT Jalandhar or NITJ), formerly Regional Engineerin­g College Jalandhar, is a public engineerin­g institute located in Jalandhar, Punjab, India. It is one of the 31 National Institutes of Technology of India. It was founded as a joint venture between the government­s of Punjab and India, originally under the name Punjab Regional Engineerin­g College, Jalandhar ( PREC). It has the following department­s: Applied Chemistry, Applied Mathematic­s, Applied Physics, BioTechnol­ogy, Chemical Engineerin­g, Civil Engineerin­g, Computer Science and Engineerin­g, Electronic­s and Communicat­ion Engineerin­g, Humanities and Management, Industrial and Production Engineerin­g, Instrument­ation and Control Engineerin­g, Mechanical Engineerin­g and Textile Technology.All offer courses at undergradu­ate and postgradua­te levels, and are actively involved in research in their specific fields.

In the 2019 NIRF Rankings, the institute was ranked 113 among the engineerin­g colleges in India. It has a quality policy that looks: 1) To develop technical human resource of excellence suitable for global requiremen­ts. 2) To ensure good quality academic and industrial research programmes in different areas of engineerin­g and technology. 3) To generate industry-institute synergy for shaping technical education to meet the requiremen­t of industry.
