HC RELIEF FOR SBI FACILITATORS

-

Justice P.V. Sanjay Kumar of the AP High Court granted interim suspension of proceed- ings issued by the SBI in trying to terminate the services of the banking business facilitators.

The judge was dealing with a plea by Banking Business Facilitators Association and 102 others, challenging the proceedings issued by the bank on April 4, 2012.

Senior counsel S. Ramachandra Rao, arguing for the petitioners, said that his clients have been rendering service as facilitators for the past four to six years and termination of their service is violative of the Reserve Bank of India's directions passed in 2006.

While ordering the interim suspension of the proceedings, the judge made it clear that this shall not preclude the bank form undertaking ‘case basis’ review for the purpose of ascertaining their contribution and the desirability of their being continued further in accordance with law.
