LOKESH: NAIDU WAS A PRO-FARMER CM
Nara Lokesh, son of Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu, has come out in defence of his father's tenure as Chief Minister, saying Mr Naidu had taken a number of pro-farmer initiatives.
When questioned by a user on Twitter about what specifically his father had done for the farming community, Mr Lokesh responded by uploading a document which listed a “few initiatives” taken by the government while Mr Naidu was the Chief Minister.
The document stated that irrigation, resources, improvement of infrastructure, reservation in engineering colleges for girls in rural areas, were some of the measures taken by Mr Naidu.
The document, apparently written by Mr Lokesh, said farmers were empowered through Water User Associations, which provided farmers with funds to repair canals without government involvement. It also said Mr Naidu’s government provided farmers with seeds, fertilisers, pesticides, credit and crop insurance, besides nine hours of continuous power supply to farmers and had improved village infrastructure, in addition to introduction of Rythu Bazaars.
