KVP KIN: PROBE ‘ABUSE OF POWER’

- DC CORRESPONDENT HYDERABAD, JUNE 30

A city-based industrialist field a petition in High Court on Saturday, urging the court to declare as illegal the police case against him, allegedly at the instance of CBI joint director V.V. Lakshminarayana.

The petitioner, K. Raghu Rama Krishna Raju, a relative of MP K.V.P. Ramachandra Rao, claimed the city police registered the case on the CBI joint-director’s complaint for allegedly leaking the latter’s call details to the YSR Congress.

Mr Raju contended that he has nothing to do with any political activity, and that he and his family bought a villa developed by Emaar Properties.

He said the CBI, probing the Emaar scam on the High Court’s direction, summoned him as owner of a property developed by the company, and that he answered all queries regarding compensation paid for the villa. Mr Raju told the court that he had earlier filed a petition in HC questioning the alleged nexus between a section of the media and the CBI probe team led by Mr Lakshminarayana.
