Three killed in mishap on ORR

Three members of a family including an inspector of Central Excise and Customs and a co-operative bank manager, were killed in an accident on the Outer Ring Road on Friday.

The victims, M. Gopal Reddy, 50, inspector of Central Excise and Customs from BN Reddy Colony, Kothapet, A. Pratap Reddy, 55, co-operative bank manager from Thommidi Rekula Village, Keshampet mandal, Mahbubnaga­r, and his grand-daughter C. Bhavya, 10, a Class V student from Sangareddy, were going to Kothapet when the accident took place.

According to the police the car in which they were travelling, rammed into a stationary lorry near AP Police Academy junction at 3 pm. While two of the victims, Gopal Reddy and Pratap Reddy, who were sitting in the front, died on the spot due to severe head injuries, Bhavya was declared dead on arrival at a private hospital at Narsingi. According to Narsingi police, the victims were returning from Sanga Reddy after visiting Pratap Reddy’s daughter. “After the visit, they were returning to the house of Gopal Reddy, whose daughter is married to Pratap Reddy’s son,” Narsingi sub inspector M. Prabhakar Reddy said.

Police suspect that the accident was caused by speeding as the front side of the car was smashed.

Mr Prabhakar Reddy said, “The lorry carrying oil barrels was parked on the side of the road after its tyre got punctured.”
