CELEBRITY TAKE: CHANDAN ROY SANYAL Chandan Roy Sanyal is a Bollywood actor and theatre director.
Q: Are you a big investor? Where do you invest? No. I am not a big investor. But being an artist, I have a sixth sense, which tells me that I need to be. Especially so that I don’t end in penury — I do it in the little piggie bank mentality. Q: Who advises you in your investments?
My chartered accountant. I just blindly sign papers looking at the headings. Q: What is your investment mantra?
Money saved is money earned. Q: What investment products do you bet on?
I prefer fixed deposits and mutual funds. I think that they make sense to me since I grew up in a space where FD was the only form of saving — a very old traditional passbook-nationalisedbank kind of approach. Mutual funds are a newbie thing. Q: How do you rate yourself in terms of risk appetite?
I took the biggest risk by choosing to be an actor, for highest returns. You have got to risk and not gamble. Risk involves intellectual foresight and study. And I risk big time. Q: How often do you track business news and stocks?
A bit every morning. I keep myself abreast of things like Greece falling out of the EU or the dollar rising.
