There’s nothing to rave about
CONTINUED FROM PAGE 17 A typical rave would have electronic music (generally an experimental sub-genre of the era) with unique sound and light settings. Also it’s not easy to find the location for a rave as organisers are very secretive. There is also a lot of drama and sign language involved when it comes to directions.
And, the biggest difference between a rave and the recently busted Hayatnagar party would be the fact that there were girls hired for entertainment. At raves, nobody is hired. Ravers are normally hippies or music lovers enjoying the music which can go on for 24 hours and more.
A city DJ says, “Some organise raves purely for the love of music. The experience of a rave party is beyond drugs, although no one can deny the availability of illegal substances. But as a citizen, I understand that it is my responsibility not to disturb anyone. And hiring girls for a party is an extreme case that does not take place in a rave.”
“Most of the parties that take place in the city are not raves. Most are birthdays or anniversary parties where there is music and alcohol. But youngsters do have to be careful when invited to parties and make sure there is nothing illegal happening there,” points out Aamer Javed, a socialite and the general secretary of NSUI.
