India-pak foreign secy talks from tomorrow Pak lying about prisoner count: MHA

Following the arrest of Abu Jundal and new revelation­s in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack, cross-border terrorism will once again dominate proceeding­s at the two day foreign secretary level talks between India and Pakistan starting July 4.

Sources said a core team of senior officials from ministries of home and foreign affairs and has been assigned the task of preparing a detailed note on the developmen­ts post Jundal’s arrest that will be taken up strongly with

India has on Monday handed over to Pakistan a list of names of 269 Pakistani prisoners, including 26/11 accused Ajmal Kasab, lodged in Indian jails. A similar list shared by Pakistan says only 69 indian prisoners are in the country. This claim is being contested by the home ministry which has asked Pakistan to review it by seeking details from Pakistan Army and ISI. MHA believes at least 250 Indians are in Pakistani custody, many of whom may be under the custody of the Pakistan Army of which their interior ministry may have no knowledge. Pakistan.

Sources said though much of what transpires between foreign secretary Ranjan Mathai and his Pakistani counterpar­t Jalil Abbas Jilani may not come out in the public domain as New Delhi is expected to do some tough talking with Islamabad particular­ly on the issue of State support in the 26/11 attacks.
