The first-ever Neet for admission to MBBS and BDS courses announced to be held on May 5, 2013. All medical and dental colleges in government and private sector across India asked to allot seats to students based on merit secured in Neet from 2013-14. This meant there would be no Eamcet medical exam next year and AP students would

have to take Neet for MBBS, BDS admissions.

Supreme Court gives interim orders on Neet, permitting states to conduct their own tests for

admission to medical courses. States asked not to release the results till it delivers the final verdict on Neet in January 2013
