EFFECTIVE DETERRENT

-

The article Wield the rod, stem the rot, DC, December 24, was highlighted the simple but highly effective method of caning the men involved in rape and molestation. When a small country like Singapore can effectively deal with problems related to women, what’s stopping our police and the courts? This should be done in public, at least in a few cases, so that it acts as a deterrent those who have evil designs on women.

Hyderabad The PM and the CMs must read the article Wield The Rod.. (DC, December 24) and apply the rod swiftly.

There is no use of the PM’s appeal to the youth to be calm and eternally wait for justice. This is not the first rape that has taken place in India. It is the callous attitude of the police and the full support of some politicians that have emboldened the thugs.

Hyderabad Apropos to the report Cops Turn

Brutal, December 24, I think the protest was organised by some vested interests to derive political mileage.

The persons who committed the heinous crime have been arrested. It is now the responsibility of the court to pronounce judgement. Let’s stop politics and pray for the speedy recovery of the girl. We will gain nothing if we protest like hooligans.

WHO IS TO BLAME?

There is no doubt that the people of Hyderabad are living in unhygienic conditions. ( City at risk, needs

urgent clean-up, December 24). After being spruced up for the CoP-II, it is hard to believe that it is the same city that has heaps of garbage and flow of drainage water on its roads. It is not just the civic body which is responsible for the unhygienic conditions but also its citizens.
