vice-president Rahul Gandhi at Jaipur, and discussed the issues relating to Telangana. The sources said the CM briefed them of his views and explained to the leaders in detail the need to keep AP united.
A close associate of the Chief Minister told this newspaper, “If the Centre feels that something remains to be discussed, they will call him to Delhi. There is no indication of that, which is why he returned home.”
Nalgonda MP, Gutta Sukhender Reddy, said: “Discussions, deliberations are over; only the announcement is pending.” All the six proTelangana Congress MPs left for Ajmer to pray at the Chisti dargah for statehood. They will head to Delhi on Monday to resume their “final attempt” to secure statehood.
Others leaders too left for Delhi to resume their meetings with the Congress Core Committee members. A large contingent of ministers, MPs and legislators from both the regions are expected to reach Delhi by Monday.
An AICC source told this correspondent that party general secretary, Ghulam Nabi Azad, will issue a statement on Monday asking leaders of both the regions not to make any statements on the subject.
