A 35-year-old woman has allegedly murdered her son and daughter in order to take revenge on her husband. The husband used to quarrel with her as he suspected her of having an extra-marital affair.

The incident occurred at Nagole on Saturday. Reeta Gupta, wife of Anil Gupta, strangled her seven-yearold son Shivansee and fouryear-old daughter Siddika when they came home from school.

The husband, Anil Gupta, a construction worker, was away at work when the murders took place. Reeta made no attempt to hide what she had done. She came out of her house crying. “When the neighbours inquired, she told them Karimnagar, March 16: A 30-year-old married woman was allegedly raped by a person in Karimnagar district of Andhra Pradesh, police said today. The incident took place on Thursday night when the woman was on the way to Vemulakurthi village under Ibrahimpatnam police limits, after collecting firewood from a nearby forest. The accused, identified as A. Gangaram, 50, fled after committing the crime. The victim has been admitted to the government hospital at Metpally Mandal headquarters. A case has been registered following a complaint by her son, police said. that she had killed her children,” said L.B. Nagar Sub Inspector Suman Kumar.

The police found that Reeta had used a nylon rope to strangle the children. “After the kids entered the house, she locked the front door. First she strangled Siddika. Seeing that Shivansee tried to flee, however, she caught him too and strangled him,” Mr Kumar said. “We think that Shivansee tried to escape, but could not open the door, as it was locked,” he added.

When the police arrived, Reeta showed signs of mental breakdown. She did not try to commit suicide, but was sent for a check-up.
