It’s Telangana first, asserts Kavita
It is Telangana first for K. Kavita. But what nags her most is illiteracy. The firebrand daughter of Telangana Rashtra Samiti chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao says that everyone across the board must pool in all their energies to address this problem first. Q. How do you explain the tag that the TRS is “all in the family”. A. This is mean. Why blame our family alone? Look at the so-called “first family” of India, the Nehru family. Isn’t that all in the family? I can reel out hundreds of such names. Individually, I stand on my own merits and achievements. If I have a certain standing, so Q. Are you a front-runner for chief minister’s post if Telangana happens? A. Oh no! I want Telangana first. Nothing else matters. be it. I will use it for the welfare of one and all. My primary aim is to get student elections restored in all colleges. I want everyone to participate in elections/politics. So, you see, there is nothing like “all in the family” with me. Q. Telangana students once again fared badly in Intermediate first year as the results have shown, why, and being a staunch protagonist of Telangana how do you plan to improve the situation in this region. A. The situation is alarming. The performance of our students is rapidly falling. There is an urgent need for more junior colleges and degree colleges at the mandal level. Private and corporate colleges are ruling the roost and spoiling the scene. Our students are lagging behind in English. I want government to lessen the cut-off marks for English as they did for Hindi. This will not only improve the percentage, but will also be a morale booster for students. Q. What is the one issue uppermost in your mind, apart from Telangana, which needs urgent attention? A. Illiteracy. You address it and this will have a triggering effect including creation of jobs. This will lead to rural development and in effect, all-round growth. Q. Do you advocate death penalty for rapists? A. I want rapists shamed, beaten and hanged in public.
