Bus yatra after padayatra

- CH.V.M. KRISHNA RAO | DC HYDERABAD, APRIL 28

It could be called the second leg, as it were, of his padayatra — except that it will be by bus this time.

Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu who ended his arduous 208-day, 2,817-km walk through the state, ‘Vastunna Meekosam’, on Saturday in Visakhapatnam, will next embark on a bus yatra through the state, the dates for which he will finalise soon.

The TD chief will rest for a few days to recover from a few health issues and focus on the party’s biennial fete, ‘Mahanadu’, to be held in the last week of May, before departing on the proposed bus yatra in June. He plans to avail thereafter of a 10-day break to go to the US to attend his daughter-in-law, Brahmani’s graduation from Stanford University.

Mr Naidu received a rousing reception from the party cadre, as he made his way home to Jubilee Hills on Sunday from Shamshabad airport.

He and actor Balakrishna arrived here on Sunday on a special flight from Visakhapatnam where people had gathered in the thousands at the public meeting he had addressed in preparation for what ought to be perceived as the party’s determination to be noticeably visible in the forthcoming general elections and state Assembly elections.

He blamed the nine-year Congress rule in the state for making the life of the the citizens of Hyderabad miserable and insecure, pointing out, in self-congratulation, that bomb blasts, like the recent one in the city, and reports of several terrorist organisations making Hyderabad their hub, were unheard of during his tenure as Chief Minister.
