Rakesh, Suman, Vamshi, Kotesh stars of the day

A. Rakesh, Vamshi Vardhan Reddy, Tirumalset­ti Suman and Koteshwar Rao came up with brilliant performanc­es to hog the spotlight in Wednesday’s action in the Hyderabad Cricket Associatio­n’s top division league matches.

Rakesh hit the highest individual score of the day. He spanked 24 boundaries and two sixes to stay unbeaten on 162 as South Central Railway replied to Deccan Chronicle’s 260 with 312 for 6. B. Sudhakar was keeping Rakesh company with 74 when stumps were drawn on the second day of their A-1 Division three-day Group ‘A’ match.

In another match, Suman smashed an unbeaten century as State Bank of Hyderabad replied to MP Colts’ 382 with 175 for no loss. The Ranji Trophy player hit 18 fours and three sixes in 94 balls to remain unbeaten on 112. Suman’s opening partner Anirudh Singh is batting on 53.

Vamsi Vardhan Reddy belted 18 boundaries and two sixes in his 234ball 152 that guided Hyderabad Bottling to 465 for 9 declared. EMCC made a strong reply though — 182 for no loss — by close of play. Openers Sharath Mudiraj and Vikram are batting on 98 and 79 respective­ly.

In another match, Koteshwar Rao took 5 for 51 as AOC bowled out India Cements for 278 before replying with a strong 270 for 3 on the second day.

Ranji player M. A. Khader of Andhra Bank was unlucky. Resuming at his overnight score of 73, he got out for 96. However, his side bowled Falaknuma for 95 and enforced a followon.
