Underwear gang flees with ornaments, cash

- DC CORRESPONDENT HYDERABAD, MARCH 13

Five people in their underwear broke into the residence of one Devendra Goud at Peddagolconda in Shamshabad village on Thursday morning. The dacoits, who had their faces covered, tied up the residents before fleeing with the loot.

The robbers took away 190 gm of gold ornaments, 300 gm silver and thousands of rupees in cash. The offenders threatened the family members with knives and iron rods.

The robbery took place at the residence of Mr Goud at around 3 am. The gang broke into the house while the family was asleep. “They overpowered the house owner and tied him up. They threatened the other family members with sharp weapons and asked them where the valuables were kept. After taking the keys of the almirahs from the scared victims, they took away the gold and silver,” said a police official from Shamshabad.

The police said that the gang, however, did not harm any of the five family members. Mr Goud, his wife and three children were in the house when the offenders broke in.

Based on a complaint registered by the victim, the Shamshabad police has booked a case and started inves- tigation. Shamshabad inspector J. Venugopal said the police was verifying the modus operandi of the gang and had launched a manhunt for the offenders.

A gang of robbers wearing, only their underwear, had previously robbed houses in the city’s outskirts earlier this month and in the last month. The police suspects the involvement of the same gang in each of the cases.
