Having studied in the US at the University of Southern California and the Deerfield Academy and with a B.Tech in biotechnology from JNTU, Hyderabad to boot, Arvind Krishna is one of the few highly qualified actors in the Telugu film industry.

“Acting just happened by chance,” says Arvind, who is from a family of IAS officers, adding, “I never planned to become an actor. I was looking for opportunities which would help me connect with people and when I was approached by director Madhura Sreedhar, I thought ‘why not acting?’” “Even after my first two movies — It’s My Love Story and Rushi –I hadn’t decided on continuing in this profession. But recently, I have been taking acting seriously and I am happy to have good movies lined up and I am enjoying every bit of what I am doing now.” In Adavi Kaachina Vennela, which will release soon, Arvind plays the lead opposite Meenakshi Dixit and Pooja Ramachandran.

Talking about his role in the movie, the actor says, “I play a guy who is blessed with a unique power of detecting metal. He can emit and receive high electromagnetic waves. It is one of the most difficult roles I have ever done.”

He adds, “Pooja and Meenakshi are fine actors. In the movie, Meenakshi and I have intimate scenes and we share a good onscreen chemistry. And when I say intimate, it doesn’t mean kissing and other things. It is intimacy through the eyes and body language.”

Apart from acting, Arvind is also an avid sportsperson. “I grew up playing basketball and when I came back to India, I was spotted playing at YMCA and was taken on the AP team; later I went on to play for the Indian team. I am soon looking at making a movie on basketball as well,” he says.

But will acting continue to be his main profession? “As of now I am enjoying acting. But, considering the kind of education I received, I have entrepreneurial plans as well. As of now, I am exploring possible avenues wherein I can invest in a new business idea.”
