For Geeta, it’s not just a stunt

One of the few stuntwomen in the industry, Geeta Tandon, will soon be seen competing with several known faces from the industry in the upcoming season of Khatron Ke Khiladi. However, not many know about the tough times she has faced due to which she decided to let go of her fears and work as a stuntwoman (body double) for leading actresses.

Geeta says, “After my divorce, I had to support my two children. I have not studied after SSC. It was a desperate situation but I didn’t want to go on a wrong path. I knew someone who was a background Bhangra dancer in Daler Mehendi’s group. I did a couple of stage shows with them. Then someone suggested that I could earn better if I perform stunts. I decided to leave all fears behind and go for it.”

Being a body double for actresses, Geeta’s face is never in focus. That’s the reason why she says she felt special to be in front of the camera and get recognition for the first time. She also got to see a new side to Rohit Shetty with whom she has worked in the past. She says, “I felt special, it was a dream come true. Rohit is a good director but an even better host. He looks really handsome in the show and his comic timing is good. To me, he is God. He gave me a lot of work and helped me financially.”

Having performed so many stunts in the past, doesn’t she have an advantage over others on the show? “The only advantage I have is that I am fearless. These stunts were different from the ones we perform in films. There was a water stunt where I felt I won’t be able to survive,” she says.

Geeta feels glad that her chil- dren are proud of her work. “My son and daughter, who are both under 15, think I’m superwoman. They are proud of me and my work.”

Ask her about the toughest stunt she has performed in films and she says, “It was for Sneha Ullal in Click. I had to jump from a huge height and get hit by a car. I injured myself but I don’t bother much about such things. I’m too used to them now.” Now that she has completed shooting for Khatron Ke Khiladi, Geeta is all set to join the cast of Anees Bazmee’s Welcome Back in Dubai.
