The move is aimed at checking environment pollution caused by these industries in the city, mainly through water pollution of nalas, air pollution and ground water pollution.

There are 14 industrial estates in the city and outside its limits, but inside the ORR. In these estates over 10,000 small, medium and big industries operate.

Except for non-polluting industries like IT, all other industries are supposed to be moved out from Qutbullapur, Jeedimetla, Balanagar, Kattedan, Gajularamaram, Uppal, Moula Ali, Autonagar, Kushaiguda, Nacharam, Patancheru, Ramachandrapuram, Mallapur and Cherlapally.

Mr Ramchander, a resident of Apoorpa Colony, Jeedimetla said, “In view of health hazards that we, the residents are prone to, the government should come up with a timeframe to shift these industries. Hundreds of residential colonies have come up in and around these industrial areas. Several families are prone to health hazards due to the air, water pollution caused by these industries.”
