Non-local wives back T-husbands

Though the aspiring candidates for the Chevella Lok Sabha seat have a strong Telangana base, their wives, however, hail from Seemandhra, or have different political background­s.

All of them, however, are actively helping their husband during this election season.

TRS candidate K. Vishweshwa­r Reddy’s wife Sangeeta hails from Chittoor, while Congress ca- ndidate Karthik Reddy’s wife Vishali Sravanti is from East Godavari. TD candidate.

Ms Sangeeta Reddy, also executive director of Apollo Hospitals, addressed a women’s gathering as part of her husband’s election campaign at Mastannaga­r in Serlingamp­ally on Friday.

“As far as my husband is concerned, his concern for Telangana has always been for the developmen­t of the region. He comes from Hyderabad and is proud of its multi- cultural heritage. We both believe that Hyderabad is for everyone, be it from any region, Andhra or Telangana. He is committed for its developmen­t and I am in full support of it,” she said.

Ms Vishali Sravanti (29), wife of Mr Karthik Reddy, the eldest son of Congress’ Sabita Indra Reddy, said, “Though my ancestral roots are in Andhra, my parents and I have been born and brought up in Hyderabad and are very much a part of this region. I have been married for four years now and my loyalty definitely lies with the Congress. I belong to this family and my primary duty lies here.”

TD candidate T. Veerender Goud’s wife T. Divyashree (22), hails from Gangavati in Karnataka. Her grandfathe­r was a Congress leader. “Though I come from a Congress background, after my wedding, my family and its interests are my priority. Hence, my full support is for the TD,” said Ms Divyashree.
