Poll body starts receiving Seemandhra nominations
‘AUSPICIOUS’ APRIL 16 TO SEE RUSH FOR NOMINATIONS
More than 3.8 crore voters are going to decide the fate of Congress, Telugu Desam and YSRC in the Seemandhra region, for which the poll battle began on Saturday with the Election Commission formally issuing the notification. It has started receiving nomination papers for the 25 Lok Sabha and 175 Assembly segments in 13 districts.
The fate of TD president N. Chandrababu Naidu, YSRC chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, Jai Samaikyandhra Party president N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, and several Congress Union ministers and former ministers, including Kishore Chandra Deo, M.M. Pallam Raju and Panabaka Lakshmi will be decided in the second phase.
Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwarlal said that though April 19 is the last date for filing of nominations, the candidates will get only five days to file the Hyderabad: April 16 will witness a heavy rush contestants to fie their nominations in Seemandhra as astrologers have declared that the date is “highly auspicious” due to the Swati Nakshatra. Though the filing of nominations for Seemandhra began on April 12 and will end on April 19, candidates are being advised by astrologers to file their papers on April 16. Though April 14 and 18 are also “auspicious”, the candidates will not be able to file the nominations on these two days as they are govern- nominations due to the three public holidays on April 13 (Sunday), April 14 (Ambedkar Jayanti) and April 18 (Good Friday).
Meanwhile, the EC announced the final list of ment holidays. Astrologers say the time between 10 am and 11.45 am is very good due to Mithuna Lagnam. Astrologers say the last day to file nominations, April 19, is not good due to Jyestha Nakshatra, which is not considered auspicious. Moreover, April 19 falls on a Saturday, also not considered auspicious. According to the ‘tithi’, though April 17 is also auspicious, astrologers advise candidates against it as it has Visakha Nakshatra, which is not considered auspicious. candidates in Telangana with 267 contesting for 17 Lok Sabha Constituencies. Of the total 348 nominations filed, 42 have been rejected and 39 candidates have withdrawn.
