PARTHASARADHI, VEDAVYAS JOIN JAGAN’S PARTY

- P.V. KRISHNA RAO | DC VIJAYAWADA, APRIL 12

The Congress is facing a torrid time in Krishna district after the exit of almost all senior leaders, including ministers from the party. Except for senior leader and MLC Paladugu Venkata Rao, no senior leader has remained in the party, leaving the Congress to face an acute shortage of leaders. Former minister K. Parthasaradhi and former deputy speaker B. Vedavyas left the Congress and joined the YSR Congress on Saturday. The two leaders have joined the YSRC in the presence of party president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy in Hyderabad.

Mr Parthasaradhi joined the YSRC putting an end to speculations for the past one month. He had been maintaining distance from the Congress programmes for the past one month.

Former minister Devineni Rajasekhar (Nehru) who joined the Congress around 1998, has remained in the party and is planning to contest the Vijayawada East constituency. His son, Devineni Avinash, is contesting for the Vijayawada Lok Sabha seat.

Former MLAs Perni Venkataramaiah (Nani) of Machilipatnam and Jogi Ramesh of Pedana too have left the Congress and joined the YSRC several months ago.

Central MLA Malladi Vishnu is said to be planning to leave the Congress and join either the YSRC or the BJP.

Vijayawada West MLA Vellampalli Srinivas too is said to be planning to leave the party.
