Seven nabbed in gangrape case

- CYRIL ROMEO | DC HYDERABAD, APRIL 12

The minor girl, who was allegedly gangraped in the old city for about a week, was also forced into prostitution by two women, police said.

The minor girl was handed over to the women, who forced her into prostitution, police said. The cops have arrested seven people including the women. However, two suspects are still at large. The accused are Abdul Shakeel Rahman, 21, a zari worker, Mohammed Basheer Khan, 21, a battery technician, Mohammed Mahboob alias Mahboob Ali, 21, Mohammed Hameed, 25, flower decorator and Mohammed Azher Khan, 23, a furniture maker. The two women are Fouzia Begum alias Ghouse Bee, 35, wife of late Syed Akbar, and resident of Dadapeer ki Dargah in Hafeezbabanagar, and Fareeda Khatoon, 42, a resident of Teegalakunta. Fouzia is a maid and Fareeda is a housewife.

DCP Sarvashresth Tripathi said when the minor girl left her house on April 4, she met Abdul Shakeel Rehman. As she had earlier stayed near his house in Hafeezbabanagar, she knew him and his friends. Police said that he took her to the vacant house of Mahbub Ali where she was raped by Shakeel and his friends. She was let off late in the night. The girl was then picked up by Azher Khan near Aliya Gardens. He took her to Fouzia Begum’s house in Balapur, where she was forced into prostitution. “Later, Feroz (absconding) came to her house and took the victim to Sanjeeviah Park. She was taken to Fareeda’s house where she was forced into prostitution again,” Mr Tripathi said.

The girl was rescued by her family. “When they received a call from Fareeda, they suspected a sex racket. The victim’s brothers and friends called Fareeda seeking ‘call girls.’ She brought the victim near Charminar and was found out,” an official said.
