Venu, Irfan are eager to soar for Sunrisers

-

They played together, with some success, for the Delhi Daredevils for three Indian Premier League seasons and now, Y. Venugopala Rao and Irfan Pathan will look to replicate their heroics for the Sunrisers Hyderabad at IPl-7.

Venu is back in a Hyderabad IPL side after three seasons, having played for the Deccan Chargers the first three years.

“It feels great to be back in my home side. The feeling of playing for a city you’re familiar with, is indescribable. I’ve been very lucky that every franchise I’ve played for has only shown me the utmost respect and I have always tried to repay that with good performances on the field. It is no different with the Sunrisers. They welcomed be with great warmth and I’ll do my best to win matches for my team.”

Irfan too is keyed up. The left-handed allrounder is eager to do his best for his new team. “I have been around for a bit and I’ll dig into my experience and hopefully, produce the goods when it matters,” Irfan said.

“The energy of this team is incredible. It is a very relaxed dressing room, with a lot of camaraderie.”

It was in Australia a decade ago that Irfan burst onto the interna- tional scene. And now, he is salivating at the prospect of playing for India at the World Cup Down Under.

“I love playing in Australia and the fact that it is the venue for the World Cup makes me extra eager to get back into the Indian side. But it is still a way off, and there are a few tours before that. Hopefully, I’ll make a comeback and get settled before the World Cup.”
