KCR to join 3rd front

TRS promises 12% Muslim reservation, free education from KG to PG

- SANTOSH PADALA | DC KARIMNAGAR, APRIL 13

TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao said that his party may join the Third Front at the national level.

Stating that the TRS was 100 per cent secular, Mr Rao said: “The TRS will not join communal parties. All of the TRS MPs will take part in the Third Front. Telangana has the Ganga-Jamuna tehzeeb.”

He was speaking at the Shankaravam, his maiden campaign meeting, at a college ground here on Sunday evening.

“All sections of people must experience growth. We need a secular state. It is a policy of the party. People of the region should live as brothers and lead a happy life,” he said.

Stating that communal parties would not come to power, he said that he has friends in many parties, and that national leaders like Trinamul president Mamata Banerjee, AIADMK president J. Jayalalithaa and BJD’s Navin Patnaik were talking to him. “All of them are stressing that there is a need for the Third Front,” he said.

“Everybody is seeking non-BJP and non-Congress rule in India. They are national parties for namesake, but they have been reduced to regional parties. No single party can form government at the Centre,” he said.

TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao said, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will not win more than 200 seats.

“Some people are trying to predict that a BJP alliance will form government at the Centre. Many newspapers have carried articles supporting the argument. But the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will not win more than 200 seats in the polls,” he said.

“Many experts and political analysts feel that India will shortly become a confederation of regional parties, but no national party can become a major force,” he explained.

Lashing out at the Telugu Desam, he asked, “Do we require a Seemandhra party (TD) in Telangana.”

He alleged that the Congress could not pro- duce tall leaders. Some Congress leaders in Telangana had “taken part in the sins committed by Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy,” he said.

He said, the Congress leaders had not responded when the then Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy had said he would not allocate funds to the region. “They were hosting dinners when we were staging Sakala Janula Samme,” he claimed.

Earlier, he landed in the city in a chartered helicopter at the collectorate and drove to his residence located in Teegalaguttapally in the city. After spending some time there, he reached the venue at around 7 pm.

He said, the TRS will give 12 per cent reservation to the Muslim community.

The TRS political manifesto includes better housing, improved quality of education, and 24x7 power supply to farmers.

He claimed that he would strive to implement the assurances given in the manifesto. He promised that the TRS would build a golden Telangana.

Reading out the sops mentioned in the manifesto, he said that the TRS would strive to provide better housing, quality education and improved irrigation facilities. Tax on transport would be waived, he said.

He said, a TRS government would offer free education from the KG to the PG level. “Just like sons and daughters of the elite have access to high quality education, the children of economically poor deserve the same,” he explained.
